Registered office: Bargiestraat 15 bus B, 8900 Ieper
Enterprise number: 0436.125.559
Email: info@smartrepair.eu
This policy covers the SmartCheck app only. If you use our repair portal at https://smartrepair.eu for a repair or to buy a refurbished device, a separate privacy policy applies to that.
What the app does
SmartCheck runs hardware diagnostics on your device: screen, battery, audio, antennas and sensors. All tests run locally on the device.
You do not need an account to use the app.
What data we process and on what basis
On first launch the app asks for your choice. Only if you consent do we send to our server in the European Union: test results and scores, the make and model of the device, the OS version and security patch level, and a randomly generated installation ID.
We do not collect your name, email address, telephone number, IMEI, serial number, location history or advertising ID.
Location permission is used locally only, for the GPS antenna test and for recognising wifi networks. No location is stored or transmitted.
Microphone recordings made during the audio test are analysed locally and deleted immediately.
The basis for sending diagnostic data is your consent. You can withdraw it at any time using the switch on the System tab in the app. Withdrawal does not affect processing carried out beforehand.
What we use the data for
Calculating anonymous model averages, so that you can compare your device with other devices of the same model.
Identifying hardware batches with elevated failure rates.
Service notifications through push messages, if you have enabled them.
We do not use your data for advertising, for profiling, or for automated decision-making.
Recipients and transfers outside the EEA
Firebase Cloud Messaging from Google, for delivering push messages. Only the push token is shared for this purpose. This involves a transfer to the United States.
Cloudflare, for delivering the test data that the speed test downloads. Connection data is processed in the course of this, including your IP address. No diagnostic data and no installation ID is shared with it.
Our hosting provider within the European Union, where the diagnostic data is stored.
Transfers to a country outside the European Economic Area take place solely on the basis of an adequacy decision of the European Commission or of the standard contractual clauses. On request we will provide information about the safeguards applying to a particular transfer.
We do not sell your data and do not share it with advertisers or data brokers.
Retention
We keep diagnostic reports for a maximum of twenty-four months from the date of measurement.
We keep the push token for as long as you leave push messages enabled.
After these periods the data is deleted or irreversibly anonymised into model averages from which no individual device can be derived.
Your rights
You have the right of access, rectification, erasure and restriction of processing, the right to data portability, and the right to object to processing.
You can start deletion of all data linked to your installation ID directly from the app, or request it at info@smartrepair.eu. Please quote your installation ID; without it we cannot locate your data, because we hold nothing else that identifies you.
We reply within one month.
Security
Traffic between the app and our server is encrypted. Access to the stored diagnostic data is limited to those who need it, through personal accounts.
If a breach nevertheless occurs that poses a risk to your rights, we report it to the supervisory authority and, where the risk is high, to you through the app as well.
Right to complain and changes
If you disagree with the way we process your data, please tell us first at info@smartrepair.eu.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Gegevensbeschermingsautoriteit, https://www.gegevensbeschermingsautoriteit.be.
This policy carries a version number and a date. We update it when the app or our processing changes; we announce material changes in the app.
